What is Hijama (Cupping Therapy) ?

The role of the Hijama

"Hijama" whose name comes from the Arabic word "Hajama" and "hajjama" (something back to its normal size, suck, absorb, draw, extract) is called in English Cupping or Cupping Therapy.

Hijama helps the blood to cleanse and renew itself by eliminating senescent cells (aged), toxins and impurities, which leads to stimulate blood circulation and allows organs to function normally with googd performance.

Hijama heals countless illnesses and diseases and has impressive results. And with the permission of ALLAH, hijama could cure incurable diseases that modern medicine has failed to cure.

Hijama is a prophetic medicine applied and recommended by our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Some Ahadith of the Prophet about Hijama

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet (peace be upon Him) said: "Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, hijama (Cupping Therapy), and branding with fire (cauterizing). But I forbid my followers to use (cauterization) branding with fire."

(Saheeh El-Bukhari)

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet (peace be upon Him) said, that on the night of Israa (his ascension to the heavens) : "I did not pass by an angel except that it said to me: "Oh Muhammad, order your Ummah (nation) with hijama (Cupping Therapy)."

(Saheeh El-Djami)

Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "If there was something excellent to be used as a remedy then it is hijama (Cupping)."

(Saheeh Abi Dawud and Ibn Maajah).

Hijama has a preventive and curative therapeutic role.

The preventive role: For healthy people who do not suffer from any disease and their medical reports are OK. In this case, hijama helps purify the blood from distorted and senescent cells, toxins and substances causing pain, stimulate blood circulation and at the same time we adopt the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

It is advised that hijama takes place on the 17th, 19th or 21st day of the lunar month. These days are called the "days of healing".

Note: Hijama has no side effects because we do not enter anything in the body, we only extract the bad blood, unlike chemical drugs that can help the diseased organ but often have adverse effects.

The curative and therapeutic role: Healing the diseases even modern medicine has failed to treat. We advise the patient to hurry to do hijama as soon as possible to not give an opportunity for the disease to get worse, no matter what day of the month and any time, and the proof is that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that "the prophet (peace be upon him) applied hijama on his head because of a migraine."

Girls and women who have their rules (menstruation) also heal and treat by hijama which can even heal the monthly monster PMS (premenstrual syndrome) and forever.

History of hijama

The history of hijama back thousands of years, since God created Adam the father of mankind (peace be upon him), because God taught him all of the names, (of all things). Hijama was known so long and was forwarded and recommended by the prophets and messengers of God in their wills.

Sculptures relating to hijama date back to the pharaohs whose civilization dates back more than 7000 years, since sculptures of glass used to remove blood from the skin were found in the temple of the King Tutankhamun in Egypt, the largest hospital at that time.

Greeks knew this mode of treatment that has flourished in the time of Hippocrates, the father of Greek medicine. Chinese and the Arabs before Islam also knew hijama. At his coming, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) approved, practiced and recommended the use of this therapeutic technique. This practice has been adopted by the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then, because of its advantages, it is adopted until now.

But with the discovery of chemical drugs, it looked fallen into disuse. But when confronting new diseases without solutions and other diseases caused by chemicals, pollution and even the harmful effects of chemical drugs, doctors are then referred to hijama.

Although hijam is considered today as a parallel medicine, and many Muslims have forgotten it, this "Sunna" (prophetic tradition) is revived by non-Muslims in the United States, Germany and in other countries.

And I am very honored to say that hijama is a prophetic medicine practiced and recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And by experience, hijama is a way to appeal to God and his messenger, and to show the scientific miracles in the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
